Sports Events with Sport & Motion

Let’s start with a bit of an idea of the work we do here at Sport & Motion.

Our team has built up years of experience consulting and assisting with the organisation of many different kinds of sports events.

With every one, we use our authenticity and creativity to make something that is unique and sure to showcase the best of the sports talent on show.

There are many things you must consider when putting on such a show, including picking the right venue, always maintaining focus on the core messages of the brand, and ultimately making sure everything runs as it should.

This encompasses various aspects like sports consultancy, talent, activations, production, and involving influencers to add a unique touch to the events.

So, now you know the work we put in, here’s how you can enjoy the big event to the maximum.

7 Tips for Attending Sports Events

Get Your Tickets Booked Early

Popular events sell out quickly.

Buy your tickets well in advance to secure you get a spot at the event.

This is especially important when events are happening in smaller locations and if influencers and big brand sponsorships are being used as these can draw a big crowd.

Understand the Location Rules

Different venues have different rules regarding what you can bring in.

Check their website beforehand for information on items like bags, cameras, and food, especially if your event is being hosted in a stadium.

Always respect the stewards and sports events companies working on the day and stick to the rules they give to help everything run smoothly.

Be a courteous spectator. Follow venue rules, avoid obstructive behaviour like standing for long periods if it blocks others’ views, and be respectful to other attendees.

It’s also a good idea to ensure you know where all of the emergency exits and first aid stations are just in case you need to use one later on.

Plan Your Transportation

Decide how you’ll get to the event.

Consider public transportation options to avoid parking hassles and traffic. If driving, know where to park and the costs involved.

Big events can cause some congestion, so it is always a good idea to set off a little earlier just to make sure you don’t miss any of the show.

It’s also wise to think about your exit strategy to avoid the rush when the event is close to finishing. Waiting a few extra minutes before leaving or knowing a less crowded route can make a big difference, especially when you’re with children.

Know the Schedule

It is important that you know what is happening, and when it is taking place.

Be clear about the event’s timetable, including when gates open, when the event starts, and any pre-event activities you might want to attend.

Events can run throughout a day with different things taking place, so make sure you know what you want to see and are in the right place to spot it.

Many events now have apps that you can download which can be really helpful in pointing you in the right direction for the best shows of the day.

Arrive Early

It is always a good idea to get to the venue as early as possible.

Getting there early can help you avoid long lines and give you time to find the best spot to stand or sit, explore the event, and soak in the atmosphere.

As anticipation builds, being able to take it all in can really help to make the full day extra special.

Who knows, you may even stumble upon a smaller show you didn’t expect.

Capture the Moment

While it is important that you take in the atmosphere and really live the experience, it is also nice to take photos and videos so that you can remember the special day you had.

As shows take place, capture the moments that are really special as this will help you remember them in the future.

Of course, make sure you are always mindful of the event’s photography policy and the people around you.

Engage with Other Fans

Part of the fun is interacting with other attendees.

Cheer for your team, start a conversation with people sitting near you and enjoy the communal atmosphere.

This can be a great way of meeting like-minded people and sharing the experience with them can provide a real boost to your own enjoyment of the big day.

You are all there to enjoy the day and revel in the atmosphere, so don’t be afraid to speak to people and embrace the day.

And of course, when there are sports activations taking place, try and get involved as this is a great way to get up close and personal with the individuals putting on the show and learn from them.

The Importance of locating the right sporting venue for your sports event

640 360 mattd

Choosing the right venue for your sporting event is not a decision to be taken lightly! When choosing a venue for your sporting event, it is important to consider all the factors that could potentially contribute to the success of your event.

Capacity and availability

Capacity is a key factor to consider when selecting an appropriate sports venue. The scale of the event must be considered; are you looking to maximise ticket sales, or is this a small private event? Secondly, make sure you check the potential venue is available for the dates that you require.

Location

There are many aspects to consider when it comes to the location of a venue. The location will be a large factor for attendees as to whether they buy a ticket or not; is there sufficient parking? Does the area feel safe and secure? Is there public transport available nearby, and enough parking? You may also want to consider whether there are hotels and restaurants nearby.

Facilities and additional costs

There is more to consider than purely the area that the sport is going to take place and the seating for the audience. For example, are there enough toilets to accommodate the size of the event? Is there food and water available? Some members of the public may require access to Wi-Fi. Not only do the needs of the audience need to be considered, it is also important to insure there are enough facilities for the athletes too. For example, warm up areas, changing rooms and showers. It is also important to remember that for some venues, additional costs may be required for facilities such as field lighting, cleaners and merchandise stalls.

Layout and accessibility

Considering the style of the venue should be a factor to consider; for example, is it aesthetically pleasing? It is also important to ensure that the venue is accessible for everyone, for example wheelchair users, pushchairs and those with reduced mobility. Also, if you have sports talent showcasing their moves, do you have the right space for them?

Weather Conditions

Make sure your venue is suitable for an event come rain or shine! It is also a good idea to check venues policies for poor weather conditions, so this should be checked in advance and plans put in place.

Make sure you book your venue plenty in advance and remember that communication is key! Ensure you stay in contact with the venue manager, should any issues arise.

Why a Sports Event Can Build Your Brand

If you’re looking to grow your customer base, then a sports event is ideal.

There are many ways you can get your local community involved and really reach out to a new audience.

Whether you’re using influencers to share their story and inspire the crowd, or you’re showcasing some skills from local, or even worldwide, talent, a sporting show never ceases to amaze.

From the biggest and most watched sports in the world, to something a bit more niche, holding physical activities and really putting on a production is always sure to entertain and leave a lasting impression of your brand.

6 Different Sports You Can Use at Your Sports Event

If you’re looking to hold a sporting event soon, then there are a huge amount of different sports you can use, and here are six of our favourites that we have worked with recently.

Football Freestylers

Football is one of the most popular sports in the world.

The latest world cup final was watched by nearly 20 million people in the UK alone, and there’s no sign of the love for this sport slowing down.

One of the great things about football, is it is so accessible, and is great for putting on a show.

While you may want to put on small matches, another side of football that is ideal for entertaining a crowd is football freestyling.

This is when individuals can really wow with some amazing skill and trickery with a football (and even tennis and golf balls), such as when we carried out a stadium launch for the aforementioned Qatar World Cup.

From keeping the ball balanced in the air, to performing keepy-ups and more, you’re sure to be amazed at what our freestylers can do.

Check out the video below to see some action from one of our latest events, including our very own founder, Colin Nell.

Basketball Freestylers

A sport that really lends itself to freestyling is basketball.

Some really popular aspects of this sport are the slam dunk contests and of course the Harlam Globetrotters who regularly tour the world putting on shows for their millions of fans.

A basketball freestyler can perform tricks with a ball that will blow your mind.

Juggling multiple balls at one time and spinning them on their finger (with multiple balls as shown in the video below) is only the beginning of what they can do.

The great thing about this, is all you need is a bit of space and a few basketballs, making this perfect for smaller sports events.

Rugby Freestylers

A sport that wouldn’t jump straight to the front of your mind when thinking about sports events, is rugby.

While the previous two sports are commonly used to showcase skills, rugby is more uncommon. This is another sport that works really well with freestyling though, and if you’re promoting a rugby-based brand, it can work perfectly at your event.

So, what does rugby freestyling involve?

Well, it can be many things, from spinning the ball on a pen to performing some gravity-defying moves while holding the ball.

It’s also a great method of sports activation and is perfect for getting young rugby-enthusiasts involved, as shown in the video below.

Parkour Entertainment

Something a bit more niche is parkour.

While this may not be a sport as watched as some of the others on this list, it couldn’t be more suited to really putting on a show at your sports event.

Parkour, also known as free running, often involves using natural obstacles to jump and climb across land in a visually stunning way.

If you have a space containing obstacles, then allowing your parkour talent to make their way across it is always sure to delight an audience.

Got a smaller space?

Well do not fear, as free runners can delight an audience anywhere with flips, jumps, and more acrobatics.

Our database contains some amazing talent in this category. Check out the video below and see how some of our parkour experts really put on a show at a local shopping centre.

BMX Entertainment

Another sport that may not be as watched as more of the above but lends itself really well to putting on a show is BMXing.

You may think this is a hard sport to showcase and that you need a large space filled with ramps, but the truth is very different.

Talented BMXers can showcase their skills in a small area, as shown in the video below.

There are tons of tricks BMX riders can do, from performing flips and jumps if you do have ramps available, to balancing on the bike in special ways and doing spins if you have a smaller space.

This is a great sport to use if you are a brand that is associated with high-octane, adrenaline filled action and you’re sure to get the crowd excited as your sports talent shows off their moves.

Golf Trickshots

Something that takes a huge amount of skill and is perfect for putting on a show and getting a crowd involved, is golf trickshots.

From keeping the ball in the air to using a net to showcase a drive, there are plenty of different tricks and skills that a golf expert can showcase to an audience.

As shown in the video below, this is a great way to get a crowd involved as well, as you can hand them a golf club and see how they get on.

Golf is a hugely popular sport all over the world, and if you’re promoting a brand associated with this sport, then some of our expert golf talent can really bring your show to life.

While not commonly seen as a high energy sport, these trickshots really bring a new element to the game and can open your business up to a whole new audience and really help to grow your brand.
